Hillsong Church co-founder Brian Houston has agreed to step down as global senior pastor following complaints from two women.
The two complaints, the church board said on Friday, stem from incidents within the last decade.
The board was aware of the allegations when Houston resigned in January to fight child sex abuse charges.
The first incident involved inappropriate text messages to a Houston-based employee "around a decade ago."
The employee quit after the incident, and the board said he was under the influence of sleeping pills.
"He apologised right away. We also worked closely with Pastor Brian to help him wean himself off his medication, which he did "it said.
In 2019, the pastor was again accused of being drunk after a Hillsong Conference session. Anxiety medication and alcohol were consumed, then Houston knocked on a hotel room door and met a female inhabitant.
