The Memphis Grizzlies were held to only 33 free throws in the first quarter on Tuesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Grizzlies won Game 2 124-96, tying the series at 1-1.

The refs were booed and chanted at inside FedExForum as every starter save Desmond Bane received a personal, technical or flagrant foul.

Xavier Tillman Sr., Ziaire Williams, and Tyus Jones all benefited off the bench. Minnesota's bench was less effective, and the Grizzlies slowed Minnesota's big three.

Edwards had 20, Towns had 15 and Russell had 11 – all below their season averages.

"I think our game plan," Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said. "I liked the communication." You can't stop them.

Ja Morant had 23 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. Desmond Bane had 16 points and Jaren Jackson Jr.

The Grizzlies wanted to shoot more 3s, and they did. They matched the Timberwolves with 11 made 3s after losing the first game 16-7.

Jackson hit four 3-pointers, with Bane and De'Anthony Melton both hitting two. The Grizzlies defence limited the Timberwolves to 39.5% shooting.
