Rob Walton, potential Broncos buyer, is a Rams owner's cousin

Rob Walton, the Walmart heir, is expected to make a $4.5–5 billion bid for the Broncos.

If he makes this bid, it will be the highest ever for an NFL team. Forbes values him at $70.5 billion.

Walton is married to current Rams owner Stan Kroenke. Ann Kroenke is Walton's cousin.

Unlike Kroenke, who owns several teams, Walton has never owned a professional sports team.

It's not surprising that Walton would try to buy one of the league's major franchises.

Previously, Robert F. Smith was thought to be the likely buyer. If he wins, he will be the NFL's first Black owner

Commissioner Goodell and Patriots owner Robert Kraft reportedly pushed Smith to buy Denver.
