The Jets drafted Florida State DE Jermaine Johnson 26th overall.

Johnson (6-4, 254) will graduate from Florida State in 2021. He led the ACC with 12 sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 pass defences.

"I'm the best edge rusher in this draught," Johnson said at the NFL Combine. "I can run and pass. Nobody else in this class does it."

His stock has risen steadily since the Senior Bowl. Johnson left Mobile, AL, having cemented his status as one of the draft's top prospects.

A chip on his shoulder, he said at Florida State's pro day, "I think NFL personnel wanted to see me do it against elite competition."

Former No. 1 JUCO recruiting class and Georgia commit Johnson began his college career at Independence Community College in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

In 24 games, he had 36 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 1 pass defence for the Bulldogs (four starts).

In2020, he played 27.0 snaps per game in Georgia, compared to 61.3 in 2021.
