A dump truck killed Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins in Florida, police say.

Dwayne Haskins, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and 2018 Heisman Trophy finalist at Ohio State, was killed Saturday morning in South Florida by a dump truck.

Haskins, 24, recently re-signed with the Steelers.

The dump truck hit Haskins as he tried to cross I-595 westbound near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Broward County.

The patrol said the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m.

The man was "walking on (the highway) for unknown reasons" at the time, the patrol said.

No details on what led up to that were available. Recently, Haskins was in South Florida working out with Steelers teammates, as seen in his and Najee Harris' Instagram stories.

The news of Haskins' death shocked the league and beyond.
