The Raiders caused the Tyreek Hill trade.

The Las Vegas Raiders indirectly helped the Kansas City Chiefs trade Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins by acquiring Davante Adams in a blockbuster deal.

Adams was given the NFL franchise tag in free agency. Many expected him to stay in Green Bay to play with Aaron Rodgers, but he was traded to the Silver and Black to reunite with Derek Carr.

Adams signed a $140 million five-year contract. His trade value was a 2022 first and second round pick.

Because Adams is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL, the market for wide receivers benefited. Hill was now a non-factor for the cash-strapped Chiefs.

The Dolphins were able to sign Hill to a four-year, $120 million contract due to cap space. Miami gave the Chiefs five draught picks for Hill.

On paper, losing a unique playmaker like Hill to a contender in the AFC stinks. Not when the franchise quarterback is properly compensated

For as long as he plays at a high level, Patrick Mahomes should be paid like a top-five quarterback. Due to the hard salary cap, his pay detracts others.
