Veteran fighter Donald Cerrone out of UFC 274

Return of "Cowboy" Cerrone to the Octagon is on hold.

On Saturday, at UFC 274 at Footprint Center, the 39-year-old veteran was set to return from a year layoff against Joe Lauzon.

Cerrone (36-16) had to be removed from the contest due to food illness.

Cerrone felt fantastic after gaining weight on Friday and was good when he went to bed that night after dinner, according to ESPN.

He felt ill the next morning and was removed from the event by UFC doctors.

Cerrone (36-16) was excited to battle in front of his two sons and fans all week.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he hadn't battled since January 2020.

Cerrone told ESPN on Wednesday that beating Lauzon would be the pinnacle of his illustrious career.

Cerrone's future move has yet to be announced.
